Once the thriving and productive Taylor Ranch nestled along US41 and River Road in southeast Sarasota County, Wellen Park evolved into a master planned community modeled after the ever popular Lakewood Ranch and Babcock Ranch communities to its north.
The highly-successful ‘Ranch’ community concept brought a nucleus of builders and developers together to craft a delightful mix of neighborhoods appealing to a variety of lifestyles - located around a town center with shopping, dining, amenities and infrastructure.
Wellen Park is divided into three distinct districts, including West Villages, Downtown Wellen and Playmore.
This may be welcome news to home seekers who have already experienced bidding wars and scarce inventory. With nearly 7,000 acres yet to be developed, Wellen Park promises to bring thousands of new homes into the marketplace at a time when demand is at its highest and home inventory seems virtually non-existent.
In 2017, the Atlanta Braves inked an agreement to relocate their spring training to Wellen Park, elevating the community’s appeal as both an entertainment destination and relocation choice. CoolToday Park hosted its first Braves game in the spring of 2019.
The mix of builders and developers is complementary, addressing features, floor plans, price points and styles for a variety of tastes and budgets. Wellen even offers rental opportunities, as well, including luxury apartments, Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care Services within the community.
Presently, there are six active builders operating in 12 communities throughout Wellen Park. They are:
Neal Communities
Sam Rogers Homes
M/I Homes
Mattamy Homes
WCI, a Lennar Company
Toll Brothers
